What is a Birth Doula?

A doula is a woman that helps birthing mothers feel safe and confident during childbirth through physical, emotional, and mental support. 

Catherine gives continuous, one-to-one support to women in labor. She provides non-medical physical and emotional support to the birthing mother. Her presence helps a laboring woman feel safe and confident throughout labor, delivery, and the immediate post-partum period.

Catherine integrates into the birth experience in order to best support the birthing mother and allow the partners to participate at their own comfort level. As a doula, Catherine uses her years of experience as a holistic healer to provide comfort in a variety of ways. Massage, aromatherapy, breathwork, visualizations, hydrotherapy, and positioning are just a few of the techniques that may be used to promote confidence and increase relaxation during labor. In addition to supporting the mother during labor, Catherine also can provide rests for partners, take photos, answer questions, and help families advocate for their medical choices.

Doula Services Available in San Diego County

The My Massage Doula Package

• 1-2 pre-natal visits to discuss your pregnancy and birth plan
• 24/7 phone and email support
• 24/7 on-call labor availability
• Continuous labor support for mother and family (until 1 hour after delivery)
• 1 post-partum visit
• 1 massage sessions 
  (Massage sessions can be pre-natal, post-partum, or for dad.)
• 4 week infant massage class (newborn to 6 months)(when offered)
